Mia Miranda Xavier

 

Mia is the co-owner of the Cornerstone Executive Development Group, located in Thousand Oaks, CA. She possesses extensive experience in working with organizational leaders to strategize, plan and implement a wide range of corporate development initiatives to help organizations to achieve their goals.

Prior to co-founding Cornerstone, Mia was the Vice President of Magi Associates, Inc., an Organizational Development Consulting firm located in Providence, RI. Magi Associates specializes in the creation and implementation of strategic plans for organizations to change the way they do business. In addition to her experience running day-to-day operations, she developed and managed all aspects of the firm’s marketing and promotional activities, as well as worked with clients to design and implement their corporate, in-house promotional activities. Additionally, she assisted clients in a wide range of marketing-related initiatives such as creating internet-based customer satisfaction surveys; the facilitation of customer focus groups; and related performance assessments and new business development programs.

During the past 10 years, she has provided consulting to organizations that represent a wide range of industries including: Manufacturing; Service; Arts and Culture; Government; High-Tech and Non-Profit. In addition, she has served as: Press Secretary for a state-wide campaign for Governor; in-house Public Relations Director for a Boston-based Manufacturing/Distribution firm; a Free-Lance Copy Writer; and Account Executive for a San Diego-based Marketing Communications Agency.

Mia has been actively involved in her community and believes strongly in sharing her skills and talents with others. Her volunteer work includes the creation, promotion and enrollment of Power Up!, a 13-week, SBA-supported Entrepreneurial Development Program for Women that provides comprehensive training to women and minorities starting their own business. She served as Chair of the 25-member Steering Committee for two years. For her work with Power Up!, she was nominated for the 1999 Rhode Island SBA’s Women in Business Advocate of the Year award.

Additionally, she was Founder and past Chair of the Women’s Roundtable, a committee of the Rhode Island Small Business Administration (SBA) Advisory Council, and Founder and former Co-Chair of the Women In Business Council, a council of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, one of the nation’s oldest and largest Chambers. She was a volunteer Marketing Resource for Business Volunteers for the Arts/Rhode Island, a non-profit organization providing assistance to arts and cultural organizations throughout the US. She has also served on the Board of Directors for several community organizations.

In 1998, Mia was selected to participate in the Sigma class of Leadership Rhode Island, a year-long program dedicated to further developing the leadership capacity of prominent Rhode Island business and community leaders.

Mia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Public Relations from San Diego State University in San Diego, CA
